Schedule 1 mixing station
Current for v0.4.5The Mixing Station is the workbench where you combine a base product with ingredients, one per cycle, to create effects and raise the sell price. The base station is manual: you insert each ingredient yourself and it processes roughly one unit per mixing cycle. The Mixing Station Mk2 is the upgrade worth buying once you are making money mixes; it adds automatic ingredient insertion, holds stacks of up to 20 product and 20 mixer per load, and mixes faster.
What does the Mixing Station do?
The Mixing Station is the piece of equipment that performs mixing. You place a base product and an ingredient into it, and it runs one mixing operation, applying that ingredient's effect changes to the product. To build a multi-ingredient recipe you repeat this, cycling the product back through the station with the next ingredient each time. It is bought from Dan's Hardware and is the first mixing equipment the game points you at, during the Mixing Mania tutorial quest.
How long does one mix take on the base station?
The base Mixing Station is manual and processes about one unit per mixing cycle (on the order of 20 seconds of game time), and you have to insert each ingredient by hand. That is fine for a first strain or a quick two-step mix, but it becomes a bottleneck once you want an 8-ingredient recipe in volume, because every ingredient is a separate cycle you personally feed.
What does the Mixing Station Mk2 add, and is it worth it?
The Mk2 is the level-2 upgrade and is worth it as soon as you are producing money mixes at any scale. Compared with the base station:
| Feature | Base station | Mixing Station Mk2 |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredient insertion | Manual, one at a time | Automatic insertion |
| Load capacity | Single items | Stacks up to 20 product + 20 mixer |
| Mix speed | Baseline | Faster mixes |
The automatic insertion and the 20-plus-20 stack capacity are the key upgrade for volume: fewer trips to the station per batch and no hand-feeding each ingredient. Chemists can be assigned to Mixing Stations either way (see the automation guide); the Mk2 simply moves more product per load.
Plan a recipe to run in the calculatorHow do I unlock the Mixing Station and the Mk2?
You get access to the base Mixing Station very early, through the Mixing Mania tutorial quest, and buy it from Dan's Hardware. The Mk2 is a later unlock on the equipment progression; you reach it as you rank up and expand your operation. Exact unlock timing shifts between Early Access patches, so treat the ordering as "base station first, Mk2 once you are established" rather than a fixed rank.
Schedule I is still in Early Access, so equipment costs and unlock ranks can drift patch to patch. Check the in-game shop for the current price on your build.
